DNGB Completes Construction of Eco-Friendly Engine Research Center
Expanding Development Areas to Hydrogen, Landfill Gas, and More
DNGB (CEO Lee Yong-gyun), a company specializing in eco-friendly alternative energy engine development, completed construction of its Eco-Friendly Engine Research Center with a total floor area of approximately 3,300㎡ after about a year of construction, and pledged to transform into a world-class engine company.
DNGB held the completion ceremony of the Eco-Friendly Engine Research Center located in Yangno-ri, Bibong-myeon, Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province on the 21st. Approximately 300 guests attended the event, including Yoon Jong-su, Director of Climate and Air Policy at the Ministry of Environment, Chae Hee-jeong, Manager of Seoul City’s Clean Environment Division, Park Hee-jeong, Chairman of the Korea Automobile Environmental Association, and the Chairman of the Thailand Transport Association.
DNGB established the plan for constructing the Eco-Friendly Engine Research Center in April 2006, began construction on July 25, 2007, and completed building construction on March 31 of this year. After completing all construction-related work, the company obtained completion approval from Hwaseong City on May 6. Installation of test equipment was completed on August 10, leading to this completion ceremony.
The core facility of the research center, the engine test rooms, consists of 10 rooms in total. The engine test rooms, equipped with surplus and self-developed equipment, can perform development of all eco-friendly gas engines using LPG, LNG, CNG, hydrogen, landfill gas, biogas, and other renewable energy sources for automobiles, construction vehicles, industrial power units, and power generation engines. According to CEO Lee Yong-gyun, this is the largest facility in Asia among small and medium venture companies, excluding automobile manufacturers. Notably, the 500-horsepower transient AC engine dynamometer and exhaust gas analyzer are essential equipment for EURO 4/5/6 testing, developed in-house by the company. Out of a total investment of 8 billion won including land, 2 billion won was invested solely in the engine test rooms.
With the completion of the research center, the company plans to leap forward as a world-class eco-friendly engine company by expanding its development areas from LPG, CNG, and LNG conversion businesses to hydrogen engines, landfill gas power generation systems, GHP engines, alternative energy engine R&D, fundamental engine research, and low-emission engine components.
CEO Lee Yong-gyun stated in his commemorative speech, ‘We will do our best to develop high-tech environmental technology and create cleaner air quality in areas where large corporations cannot reach,’ and ‘We will transform into a top-tier company that provides vision and happiness to employees and inspiration to customers.’
Yoon Jong-su, Director of Climate and Air Policy at the Ministry of Environment, said in his congratulatory speech, ‘DNGB has contributed greatly to improving air quality through its efforts in eco-friendly engine technology development,’ and ‘With the completion of this research center, we expect the company to further advance eco-friendly engine development, continuously contribute to air quality improvement, and grow into a world-class eco-friendly engine company.’
Meanwhile, the ceremony attendees were visibly impressed as they toured the Eco-Friendly Engine Research Center facilities. The ceremony was even more meaningful as it fell on the company’s 9th anniversary.
